The Aitutaki Day Tour is a full day excursion featuring one of the most beautiful lagoons in the world. This Cook Islands tour commences at approximately 7.00am, where passengers are transferred to the airport for a short 50 minute flight across to Aitutaki. The view on arrival into Aitutaki is spectacular, the tiny offshore islets knows as motus appear like beads strung along the protective coral reef and the white beaches that border each island are just beautiful.
After landing, the tour guide will take you on a tour of the island of Aitutaki, visiting the main township of Arutanga. Then its on to the pier to board a 21 metre vaka Titi-ai-tona, or traditional catamaran. The slow cruise across the lagoon to the top reef will take you past many of the offshore motus and sand bars that are permanently raised above the high tide mark. At the top reef, everyone gets a chance to snorkel amongst schools of tropical fish and hand feed them. Lunch is served on the vessel as you take a slow cruise to One Foot Island, where for a few hours you can swim in crystal clear waters, explore the island or just laze in the sun on the soft white sand beaches, before returning to mainland for the flight back to Raratonga.
